How to Work On Fertility During Covid Times

At this time when we are experiencing more and more shutdowns, cancelations, virtual practitioner visits, and postponements of elective procedures, how do we move forward with fertility?

The answer is that this is the perfect time to go within.  In other words, this is the time to look at what might be interfering with getting pregnant as it relates to stress and emotional factors.

The most common issue that interferes with fertility is stress.  I often tell my clients, our bodies can either be in stress/survival mode or reproductive mode but not both at the same time.  Unfortunately, most of us live our lives in survival mode.  Stress creates physiological responses that essentially turn off the reproductive switch.

The other block I have observed in working with fertility clients is the unresolved “stuff” that can disrupt the fertility process.  For example, the conscious mind of a woman who has had a miscarriage may really want a baby, but her subconscious mind might be scared to death that a miscarriage could happen again.  Until that block is addressed, it may be difficult to become pregnant.

And it isn’t just miscarriages; there can be many issues that can potentially block conception such as:

  • dysfunctional family relationships (birth family)
  • body image/physical changes to her body
  • trying to balance a career and family
  • fear of failure
  • Will she be a good mother?
  • labor and childbirth
  • abortions
  • miscarriages
  • sexual abuse
  • rape
  • fear of hospitals
  • fear of medical treatments
  • perfectionism
  • loss of independence and individuality
  • Is she ready to be a mother?
  • Will her husband be a good father?
  • Will the new baby be a threat to the relationship with her spouse?

How does one address this?  I believe that hypnosis is the best approach.  Clients can learn self-hypnosis to reduce stress, and hypnosis works directly with the subconscious mind—the part of the mind that holds the roots to all of our issues—which opens the door to access and process the “stuff” that is blocking success.

At this time when many of us are staying isolated from the outside world, hypnosis can be done through remote sessions in the comfort of your own home.  Fertility clients can keep moving forward during the Covid shutdowns by doing the beneficial emotional work that opens the door to transitioning into fertility mode.
